I'm Scott, the founder of Tandem. My adventure in auction software began in 1995, rewriting the back office system for Cordys Auction House. That initial foray into the auction world was just the beginning.

I spent over a decade helping big businesses move online. This afforded great breadth of experience, getting to work on systems across ecommerce, content management, buyer portals, training tools, and more.

I was drawn back to the auction house industry by the passion that owners had for their businesses. Auction house owners have to wear a lot of hats and were severely under-tooled for the job. Fast forward to 2015, I set out to reimagine auction software for a new era.

With a few anchor customers and a dream, I began building software to tackle core problems that auction houses face every day. One feature at a time, we assembled a full platform to support every part of what it takes to run an auction house.

The onset of COVID-19 was a turning point. With auction houses facing unprecedented challenges, we pivoted quickly to ramp up online bidding capabilities. Within months, we were able to launch our first online auctions.

Our journey has been closely tied with our customers — it's a partnership in every sense. The evolution of Tandem, from online and timed auctions to the integration of real-time audio and video, has been driven by their needs and feedback.
